commissions & Sketching services
Michelle is available for a limited number of commissions each year. These are primarily completed in pastels, specializing in producing lifelike images of livestock, pets, wildlife and even tractors. Michelle is also available to help you with visual aspects of a project you may have, a recent body of work involved sketching with a local jewellery business to design a new collection.
Michelle takes a lot of pride in her work and particularly enjoys capturing the character of a subject. She uses high quality professional art materials and although she works primarily in pastels, and more recently watercolour, she always enjoys trying out new materials and techniques. She has always enjoyed working on commissions and has felt honoured to have pieces gifted for special birthdays, weddings and Christmas presents alongside the more unusual commissions for Christmas cards, mosaics and of course ‘Flock to the Show’.
The commission process is straightforward, once you have a subject in mind and a rough date when you would like the piece of work, then it can either be arranged for Michelle to take professional photographs as part of the package or she can discuss the kind of photos that would be needed to work from. Once timescales and photos are arranged, then pricing can be given and a deposit paid to book a space for the artwork.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much will the commission cost? This varies depending on the size of the artwork, the number of subjects and the framing options, therefore it works best for each commission to be priced individually.
How Long does a piece of work take me? I get asked this a lot and in all honesty, I should really time myself, but as per the previous question it varies depending on the size of the piece and number of subjects. A small piece in pastels takes roughly 20hrs but this is done in bits working around other projects and in my case, family and farm life can also take me away from the studio, however I always factor this into my commission diary as best I can.
